Back to School TOA Traffic Safety
Students are back to in-school learning and with this comes busier roads and more traffic around our local schools and community safety zones. The Town has launched the Back to School TOA Traffic Safety Campaign which aims to improve traffic safety in school zones by:
- promoting safe driving in school zones,
- raising awareness on the risks of aggressive driving and;
- encouraging families to choose transportation modes that reduce the number of vehicles on the road.

Get inspired by listening to Active TOA ambassadors, Cerita and Elliott, below for their reasons of why their families love walking, biking or rolling school.
TOA transportation initiatives:
- Reviewing traffic volumes and speeds to determine improvements to walking/biking routes based on warrants and industry standards. Improvements can include signage, stop sign installation, or traffic calming.
- Adding facilities for walking, biking, and rolling as part of Ajax’s Integrated Transportation Master Plan.
- Reviewing the feasibility of adding pedestrian crossings, crossovers, or crossing guards.
- Providing prize packs to schools that encourage walking and rolling to school by celebrating Walktober, Winter Walk Day and Bike to School Week/Bike Month.
