In partnership with the Province of Ontario, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), and Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC), the Town of Ajax will be undertaking a large wetland restoration project within the Carruthers Creek watershed located at Kingston Rd E and Audley Rd. The Audley Road Wetland Restoration Project was identified as a restoration priority in the Carruthers Creek Watershed Plan.

The project will expand marsh wetland habitat through site grading, decommission of remnant agriculture tile drainage, and extensive native tree and shrub plantings. The restoration will also plant native wetland seed mix and manage invasive species found on site.

In total, the project will create and enhance approximately 3 hectares (7.4 acres) of wetland and plant 12,500 stems of native vegetation!

The Audley Road Wetland Restoration Project is being funded through the Province of Ontario’s Wetlands Conservation Partner Program, with additional funding being provided by DUC through the Nature Force climate resilience initiative.
