Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Strategic Framework
The Town of Ajax is developing its first Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Strategic Framework to guide how the Town integrates equity considerations into its policies, programs, services and workplace practices.
Internally, the framework will help strengthen workplace practices such as leadership accountability, staff learning, inclusive hiring and equitable workplace policies.
Externally, the framework will guide how we design programs, deliver services, engage with residents and consider equity in municipal decision-making.
Ajax is one of the most diverse communities in Canada. As our community continues to grow and change, the Town is committed to ensuring that municipal decision-making, services and engagement practices reflect the needs and experiences of all residents.
The EDI Strategic Framework will help strengthen how equity is considered across municipal operations, from leadership and policy development to service delivery and community engagement.
Community Consultation
Before the framework is finalized, the Town is seeking community feedback to help validate its priorities and ensure the framework reflects the perspectives of residents and community partners.
Why are we seeking community input?
Community voices are essential in shaping a framework that reflects the lived realities of people who live and work in Ajax.
Through this consultation, the Town is seeking input on barriers residents may face when accessing services or participating in civic life, priorities for advancing equity and inclusion, and ways to strengthen relationships with diverse communities.
The feedback gathered will help refine the strategic framework before it is finalized.
What will the strategic framework will focus on?
The EDI Strategic Framework will focus on key areas where municipalities can make meaningful change, including leadership and workplace culture, equity in policy and decision-making, inclusive programs and services, workforce equity, and stronger partnerships with the community.
