The Town of Ajax is reviewing our Waterfront Parking Program which, from May to September, offers free parking to Ajax residents and implements paid parking for visitors during weekends and holidays. This program is designed to promote equitable access and sustainable waterfront operations.

We want your feedback to help in shaping future decisions. The survey is open until November 21, 2025.

Background:

The Ajax Waterfront spans over 150 acres and is a very popular destination for residents and visitors. As one of the most picturesque waterfronts in Southern Ontario, many come to experience the scenic views, participate in recreational activities and use the 7 km stretch of trails for walking, running and cycling.

In response to a significant rise in attendance at the Ajax Waterfront in 2020, the Town of Ajax introduced the Waterfront Parking Strategy in 2021. This initiative was designed to mitigate the impacts of increased on-street parking and parks maintenance, while ensuring a balanced approach to managing associated costs. The program offers free parking to Ajax residents and implements paid parking for visitors during weekends and holidays, promoting equitable access and sustainable waterfront operations.

As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we are currently reviewing the effectiveness of the Waterfront Parking Program. We invite you to participate in a public survey to help us assess whether the program continues to meet its objectives. Your feedback will play a vital role in shaping future decisions. The survey is open until November 21, 2025, and results will be presented to Council in January 2026.

From May 15 to September 15, the Town of Ajax enforces its Waterfront Parking Management Strategy to regulate high-demand areas on weekends and holidays. Ajax residents can park in designated parking spaces for free within the streets highlighted below by registering their license plates online, while non-residents must pay $10 for 3 hours or $20 per day.
