Council sets bold new economic development agenda
An ambitious new economic development agenda focusing on job creation, a strong business and entrepreneurial ecosystem, innovation, and workforce development has been approved by Ajax Council.
The five-year (2021 to 2025) action plan is being kicked-off immediately to support the Town’s Covid-19 recovery efforts, and to unlock the Town’s infinite and untapped economic development potential. The plan was developed through extensive consultation with local businesses, enterprises and stakeholders, and features 73 actions anchored by four strategic goals.
The 2021-2025 Economic Development Action Plan strategic goals include:
Leaders in Business Retention and Attraction
Innovators in Business start-ups and Workforce Development
Advocates and Supporters of Place Development
Champions of Organizational Readiness to Support Growth and Development
To support the action plan, and encourage on-going consultation, collaboration and feedback from the community, the Town is recruiting local residents and businesses owners to join the TOA Economic Development Roundtable. To review eligibility requirements and learn more, view the application below.
As the plan was developed in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, leading to a wide-range of impacts on the Ajax community, the plan will remain fluid as we pivot, adapt and respond to the on-going feedback of the business community.
