<div style="background:#efefef; padding:10px; margin:0 0 14 0;"><h3>Purpose of the Anti-Racism Task Force</h3>The Ajax Anti-Racism Task Force (AARTF) aims to address systemic racism and hate experienced by various groups in the Town through a hub-and-spoke model, with identified working groups addressing disparities in racialized and underrepresented communities. This model will reflect a similar one to the <a href="https://www.durham.ca/en/regional-government/durham-region-anti-racism-taskforce.aspx">Durham Region Anti-Racism Task Force</a>, which will allow for some flexibility in work plan initiatives to support the community and provide resources during various social justice uprisings. Through the hub-and-spoke model, the AARTF can focus on anti-racism through various lenses, such as anti-Black racism and Indigenous truth and reconciliation building simultaneously in accordance with the work plan.The official work plan will be developed by the Task Force and presented to Council periodically with updates on work plan goals, budget, etc.; please check back to this page regularly for updates or subscribe to this page to receive notifications for updates.</div><hr><h3>Task Force Meetings</h3>The Task Force is set to begin monthly meetings in January 2024.Meeting Agendas and MinutesFinalized meeting agendas will be added here before each monthly meeting. Ajax Anti-Racism Task Force

Residents need more ways to get around Ajax. Electric kick scooters and pedal assist e-bikes are emerging across the world, offering convenient transportation options, notably for people without access to a car and who do not live near transit. They are also useful for people who may not have the physical capacity to use conventional bikes and scooters.Action26 &ndash; Ajax Council&rsquo;s Strategic Plan to 2026 includes an action that involves investigating the feasibility of participating in a shared e-scooter and shared e-bikes pilot.What types of e-scooters and e-bikes are included in this project?Electr<img src="https://s3.ca-central-1.amazonaws.com/ehq-production-canada/c5b82c8542cae6b7ec613fa4a794129663bb4450/original/1679507255/52274603421f0e6767abbea3da5d968c_Picture1.png?1679507255" style="width: 121px;" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-rounded fr-fil">ic kick scooters (which will be referred to as e-scooters in this project) are devices with two wheels and a handlebar powered by a rechargeable battery. Currently, the province allows for e-scooters with a weight up to 45kg, a wheel diameter of 17 inches, a maximum output of 500 watts, and a maximum speed of 24km/h. They must not have pedals, a seat, or a basket. <img src="https://s3.ca-central-1.amazonaws.com/ehq-production-canada/26faa6c4ec69fcb6850bc1087a23841c5a9533ef/original/1679507306/80e6a012b6dec37e5af68b34c54fe720_Picture2.png?1679507306" style="width: 118px;" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-fil fr-rounded">Pedal assist e-bikes (which will be referred to as e-bikes in this project) are vehicles resembling conventional bicycles or adult-sized tricycles that involves pedaling with electric assistance. They have a fork and frame and do not resemble a motor scooter or motorcycle. This project does not include:<ul><li>E-bicycles or e-tricycles powered by a throttle whereby a user does not need to pedal.</li><li>Cargo e-bikes which have a platform or box to carry larger items rather than a basket.</li><li>Anything that resembles a motorcycle.</li></ul>There are many misconceptions about electric kick scooters and pedal-assisted bicycles. These devices have also evolved to address many of the previous risks. Please read the Frequently Asked Questions section to learn about the benefits, potential risks, and measures to manage the potential risks.Where resident input is neededWhere should the Town permit or prohibit e-bikes and e-scooters? Complete the survey by April 21, 12 p.m. to let the Town know how e-scooters and e-bikes would affect you. Survey results will guide staff recommendations and Council&rsquo;s final decision. The Town of Ajax has been impacted by numerous climatic events that caused property damage, energy and transportation disruptions, injury, and economic struggles in the community. Climate models for the Durham Region suggest that we are likely to experience more climatic changes in the near future, including an increase in temperature and change in precipitation patterns, as well as more severe storms.As a result, the Town conducted a climate vulnerability assessment with funding from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. The assessment identified several areas of concern, including stormwater and overland flooding, impacts on the natural environment, and gaps in emergency preparedness and response. Consequently, the Town adopted the Ajax Climate Risk &amp; Resiliency Plan and Implementation Strategy in 2019, outlining actions to address climate-related risks and enhance resilience.The Town is committed to conducting a five-year update of the Ajax Climate Risk &amp; Resiliency Plan Implementation Strategy in 2024, focusing on existing strategies, assessing new risks, and ensuring relevance. The Town conducted an analysis to identify the emerging climate-related challenges compared to 2019 and initiated a<a href="https://survey123.arcgis.com/share/45f70f051f1c4a9f944862b8ba3d13f5" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"> community survey. </a>The purpose of this survey is to help inform Town staff about the residents&#39; main concerns regarding the changing climate events and steps that need to be taken to adapt. Ajax Climate Risk and Resiliency Plan: 5-Year Implementation Strategy Update

The Town of Ajax is currently preparing a new design for Daste Parkette. This new parkette is planned to help meet the growing needs of the community. The Town is holding an open house to provide the public an opportunity to review the plans and to provide comments. Daste Parkette Construction 

The Town of Ajax is in receipt of a Zoning By-law Amendment Application (Z1/24), submitted by 850 Riverside Drive Inc., on behalf of Muhammad Khan, to facilitate the development of five (5) single detached dwellings on lands located at 850 Riverside Drive. A total of 5 dwellings are proposed. The submitted materials are available in the documents tab.The purpose of the Zoning By-law Amendment is to rezone the subject property to facilitate the development of 5 single detached dwellings.
