Consultation has concluded

The Town of Ajax launched an Occasional-use Parking Permit Pilot Program, which ran from January 2019 to December 31, 2019. The purpose of the pilot was to:

  • Include free permits to anyone utilizing the system
  • Provide for 24-hour consisting parking for residents or guests
  • Be available 7 days of the week
  • Allow for 12 permits per year, per license plate
  • Not be valid during winter control events
  • Ensure that all other parking prohibitions except for no parking in excessive of 3 hours and no parking between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. remain in full effect

Staff will be reviewing participation in the pilot program and reporting to the General Government Committee this spring on future recommendations. The Town is seeking your feedback on how to proceed. Please take a few minutes to complete the Occasional-use Parking Permit poll.

Quick Stats

During the one-year pilot program:

  • 9474 permits were issued
  • Over 226,000 hours of permitted on-street parking was allowed through the Occasional-use Parking Permit system
  • 3614 individuals participated in the pilot project
  • The average permits per participant was 2.6/year
