Hunt Street

The Town of Ajax completed the Hunt Street Extension Feasibility Study in March 2022. The Feasibility Study revisited previous work conducted by others to consider the new vision that the Town has for the downtown area where the extension would be constructed. The study reaffirmed the importance of this connection from a mobility perspective to improve connectivity and help relieve congestion along parallel roads. The extension would also provide an additional route to access the GO station, which is a congestion hot spot during peak commuter periods.

Based on the findings of the Feasibility Study, an Addendum to the 2016 Environmental Study Report (ESR) has been prepared to document the proposed changes to the recommended alternative for the extension of Hunt Street, and to update the associated environmental effects and mitigating measures to address environmental impacts. The Addendum also provides a summary of changes to the existing environmental conditions within the study area and identifies any changes to conditions that have occurred since the original 2016 ESR was completed.

The ESR Addendum was filed for a 30-day public comment period on February 8, 2024, and is available for review on this webpage. Interested persons are encouraged to review the ESR Addendum and provide comments by March 9, 2024. Information about how to submit comments or questions on the ESR Addendum is included in the Notice of Addendum.
