  • Installation of additional sidewalk along the East boulevard.

Hunt Street Resurfacing

  • Full-depth removal and replacement of asphalt.
  • Removal and replacement of various sections of concrete sidewalk, curb & gutter.
  • Sod, asphalt and interlocking restoration and reinstatement.
  • Pavement markings.

Pre-Construction

  • Utility Marking: Work crews will identify and mark the locations of underground utilities such as gas, water, and sanitary lines to ensure that construction activities do not interfere with these essential services.
  • Tree Work: Tree pruning and removals will be carried out as necessary to accommodate the construction.
  • Private Property Notice: Please be advised that the Town is not responsible for damage to any privately owned items placed on Town property. To avoid potential conflicts or damage, residents are encouraged to remove such items in advance.
  • Pre-Construction Condition Survey: A survey of existing property conditions will be conducted, including the exterior—and, with property owner permission, the interior—of nearby properties. Property owners will be contacted to schedule this survey, which will be conducted by a contractor hired by the Town. While participation is voluntary, the documentation may be valuable in supporting any future claims related to construction-related damage.
  • Construction Notice: All signage will be posted at least 10 days prior to the closure, in accordance with the Town's Road Occupancy/Road Closure By-Law. Notifications will be sent to nearby residents, businesses, emergency services, School Boards, and Durham Region Transit before any closures take place.

During Construction

  • Temporary Disruptions: Minor inconveniences such as dust, noise, limited driveway access, and localized lane closures are expected during construction. Business owners and motorists may experience some disruption.
  • Pedestrian and Driveway Access: The Contractor is required to maintain safe and accessible walkways where sidewalks exist, and ensure that driveways and entryways remain accessible throughout the construction period. Any temporary access will be communicated to affected parties as early as possible.
  • Parking Restrictions: On-street parking availability will be reduced in the construction zone.
  • Traffic Management: Flagging personnel and clear signage will be in place to guide vehicles and pedestrians safely through the area. While minor delays may occur, every effort will be made to minimize disruptions and maintain traffic flow throughout the project.

In the event major deliveries have been pre-scheduled, please inform the project contact ahead of time, and the Town will do its utmost to accommodate.

The Town of Ajax realizes that the construction work will be disruptive. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and patience during this time, and we will make every effort to complete the construction work as quickly as possible.
