Project overview
The Town of Ajax is developing a Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) Partnership Plan. The plan sets out local priorities and actions to help residents feel safe and supported, and it aligns with the Durham Region CSWB Plan (2025–2029) and its seven priority areas: mental health, substance use, homelessness and basic needs, criminal involvement, victimization, social isolation, and experiences of racism.
The work is being carried out in coordination with Durham Region, Durham Regional Police Service, and local community organizations and service providers. Residents are a central part of the process.
Why we're doing this
The plan is built on evidence and community input. It identifies the issues that matter most to people in Ajax, then directs local resources and partnerships toward them. Aligning with the Durham Region plan means the Town's local actions connect to the broader regional framework.
What residents can expect during the process:
A public survey (now open) to gather residents' views on safety, well-being, and local priorities
Input from community organizations and service providers through a separate partner survey
A draft plan informed by that input
A final plan reviewed and finalized by the Town
What the plan will produce: a clear set of local priorities, and actions the Town and its partners will take to address them over the life of the plan.
Survey questions
The public survey takes about 8 to 10 minutes. It's anonymous, and every question is optional. Questions cover topics on:
