What is Action26?

Ajax Council’s path to 2026 started with the launch of Action26 in June 2023, having created this dynamic strategic plan to advance Town priorities and guide decision-making for the 2022-2026 term. The plan outlined 13 Council priorities and 176* supporting actions to be initiated as follows:

• 44 actions in 2023
• 48 actions in 2024
• 20 actions in 2025
• 11 actions in 2026
• 53 actions marked as ongoing

*At the Year 1 Update, the number of actions sat at 170.

After Year 2, out of 170 actions…

• 74 actions are complete
• 41 actions have been initiated
• 46 projects are ongoing
• 9 actions (5.3%) have not been initiated

Connecting our Community (original 67 actions*)

Priorities

1. Increase and amplify creative and innovative opportunities (6 actions)
2. Encourage community pride (12 actions)
3. Improve well-being and quality of life (25 actions)
4. Foster a safe and welcoming community (16 actions)
5. Champion inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility (8 actions)

Significant accomplishments

• The installation of the Ajax Sign at Pat Bayly Square
• Relaunch of the Town Hall School Tour program
• Completed and reported on the E-scooter and E-bike pilot

Growing our Community (original 52 actions*)

Priorities

1. Embrace dynamic and sustainable growth (22 actions)
2. Advance innovation and investment (10 actions)
3. Invest in the changing recreational needs of a growing community (22 actions)

• Implemented Municipal Accommodation Tax program
• Initiated Ajax Community Centre Renovation design

• Opened Cricket Club House and Field
• Opened a library satellite at new Grandview Headquarters

Modernizing our Community (original 51 actions*)

1. Lead the green transition (15 actions)
2. Rethink the way we communicate (8 actions)
3. Equip our workforce for the future (11 actions)
4. Ready our organization for the future (8 actions)
5. Demonstrate sound financial management (9 actions)

• Investigated apprentice and intern programs
• Launched AMPS – Administrative Monetary Penalty System Program
• Green Fleet Strategy completed and presented to Council
• Updated Ajax Climate Risk and Resiliency Plan
• Updated Energy Conservation and Demand Management Plan
• Introduced Pet Waste Diversion program for parks
• Reviewed corporate communications program and tools
