What is Action26?

Ajax Council’s path to 2026 starts now with the launch of Action26.

Action26 is about creating a dynamic strategic plan to advance Town priorities and guide decision-making for the next four years.

After every municipal election, the Town administration, in consultation with Council and the community, facilitates the development of a strategic plan to identify priorities and actions for the new term.

Success is not one big step – it’s a series of steps. The aim of the Action26 plan is to achieve sustainable growth and progress through a series of concrete actions focused on the continued betterment of the Town.

Throughout the Action26 cycle, the Town will offer various interactive engagement opportunities to seek community and stakeholder input and communicate successes.

Action26 Significance of the Brushstroke

Just like a strategic plan, the brushstroke is used by creators to convey intent, energy and interest in their work. The use of the brushstroke in Action26 symbolizes the Town's instinctive sensibilities toward advancing actions for the betterment of the community. It is the reflection of the Town’s desires, a trace of our efforts and the production of our uniqueness.

Similarly to the strategic plan, brushstrokes are used to bring out specific characteristics. For example, the use of firm edges depict sharp intentions such as the Town’s priorities while soft edges may deal with sensitivities and particular actions of the strategic plan. The visible brushstrokes speak to the intent and confidence of the Town’s final vision and delivering a message that is bold and deliberate.

A priority is an overarching theme or an issue, while an action is a clear and concrete task.

Public Engagement Opportunities

Action26 Customer Polling (complete)

From February 3 to March 12, 2023, residents may have received a call from Environics Research as they conducted a 15-minute citizen satisfaction poll. This polling gave the Town data from a representative sample of approximately 600 Ajax residents on topics such as service delivery, quality of life, local issues, and strategic planning priorities.

Action26 Virtual Engagement Sessions (complete)

The Town of Ajax hosted 3 virtual engagement sessions in 2023 for residents to give input on Action26 – Ajax Council’s strategic plan to 2026.

Sessions were interactive, including live polling and a Q&A with members of Council.

Opening Action26 Exercise (complete)

Constituents had the opportunity to help Ajax Council develop the 2022-2026 strategic plan by completing the Opening Action26 Exercise below.

The purpose of the exercise was to expand the consultation process by collecting initial feedback from the community to support the information available during the development stages of the plan.

Those who completed the exercise were automatically entered into one of three draws (one per ward) to WIN a Rain Barrel. Only one entry per person and only Ajax residents was eligible.

The exercise closed February 16, 2023.
